this is a RANDOM post

hahahaha
charmaine phua is back!
and charmaine phua is proud to admit that i ate LOTS and LOTS of char siew today.
hahahaha
but then i'm doubl-y proud to admit that i exercised alot today.
and HEYHO,
all the endomorphins got me high!

actually,
eating those really unhealthy foods isn't one of the BIGGEST problems that we fall trap into,
because its OKAY to binge once in a while!
although, MODERATION IS very important of course.
i mean like once in a while cant be like once every 2 days or something.

But anyway, the most crucial problem that we suffer from is our LAZINESS.
-lazy to walk,
-lazy to take our own glass of water (i'm sorry aunty, i know i ALWAYS holler for water),
-lazy to EXERCISE!
the 3rd point being the most !terrible):
because without exercising we DO NOT BURN any CALORIES, at all.

ZILCH,
NADA,
z-e-r-o.

and all of us use the same excuse of
"HEY, IM TIRED. and its already so late, nevermind i shall do it tomorrow. "
but then when tomorrow comes,
don't we all just repeat the same excuse over and over again?
We give ourselves countless numbers of reasons just to not exercise and "SLACK".
(i know i'm guilty too*gulp*)
And i feel that it is one of the major problems which deeply affects us all!
Adults use the excuse of having "worked too long" and that they were "tired".
Students like ourselves use the excuse of "Wha! So much homework! NO TIME."

Actually, exercising at night is even better than exercising in the morning.
It helpes you sleep better and you wake up more refreshed in the morning.
Sleeping too early isn't good too, because you'll start to feel all lethargic and tired the next morning (and feeling guilty about last night's char kway teow).
Sleeping alot does not = more refreshed.

as for us students.................................
we should all ditch homework and USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO EXERCISE!

well no, but my point is that we should all make time to exercise!
so that we can all feel less guilty and less fattened up after eating that horribly delicious bag of PO-TA-TO chips!
P.S. do get a really fit person or someone who jogs at the rate slightly above your level to run with you every week or so!
its really very motivational and you help each other keep fit, plus its an opportunity for US GIRLS to chit chat and gossip all we want instead of doing it in class and getting like negative-happynotes or something.
and, you will know how much your stamina has improved after you realized that the numbers of topics that you both discuss while running has INCREASED!
and you're aren't panting over just running up one itsybitsy hill.

Chocolates are what we girls believe to be sinful to consume as we cannot stop once we have started, thus over eating hahah. It is believed that it makes us put on lotsss of weight, which i frankly believe it to still ahha. Some also believe that the main ingredient, cocoa, which is found in chocolates, retards our growth. However, according to a website, these observations were made by a Harvard scientist.
---consuming chocolate could possibly be more important to human health. This Harvard scientist even went to the extent to speculate the chocolaty benefits could be even greater than the effects of penicillin or anesthesia.
---there are said to be vast benefits of epicatechin-rich cocoa which Kuna Indians in Panama consumed.
---some are calling for epicatechin to be regarded as an essential vitamin, and even altering the standard definition of what a vitamin really is.
---the presence of the aforementioned diseases are linked by some to epicatechin deficiency, one expert says.

However, not all chocolates have such wondorous benefits. Consuming any run-of-the-mil chocolate such as those found in supermarkets, do not give consumers such benefits. Scientists agree patients derive the most benefits from minimally-processed chocolates. I personally know of some people who eat dark chocolate for lunch and it is slimming according to them, that or they just do not put on weight. That's pretty amazing if you ask me. However, they do not consume it in huge vast amounts hahah. We must all remember to eat in moderation, don't overdo it.

So to sum it all up, for all those chocolate-loving people out there, remember these tips.
---Eat it only if you're healthy.
---Confine your choices to dark chocolate.
---Consume it only in moderation.

As you know , nowadays French fries and potato chips are the moooost popular and favorited snack!!! It is not difficult for you to chomp on 10 packages (or probably more ?!? )of your McD fries and Doritos chips since they are
deliciously crunchy and tasty .Some of them have a unique flavour and bright colour , fresh appearance .And how do the frozen-packaged potatoes obtain such a marvelous flavour and appearance just by frying it ? The answer ? They are deep fried in Trans FAT!!!! Moreover they contain MSG , known as Monosodium Glutamate , an artificially made flavor enhancer which existence have been disguised in most of the MSG-containing snacks’ labels since a long time ago. Food additives such as MSG , causes excitotoxic damage which is currently being found to play quite a big role in sudden cardiac death , particularly in athletes .What is Excitotoxins ?They are excitatory amino acids which causes neurons to die . There had been many complains from the MSG consumer claimed to experience headache , nausea , or vomiting after consuming foods containing MSG .As I have mentioned before , MSG caused addiction , which means that you could devour a lot of those fries foods once you taste them .For you to know , 10 servings contains at least 5 full grams of trans fat, which had been known from pole to pole as ‘toxic’ . Trans Fat , also known as hydrogenated vegetable oils ,is made by boiling it on a substance containing metal catalysts and a lot of hydrogen .Trans Fats can be used repeatedly for many times and is able to enhance the appearance and flavour of foods cooked in it , compared to the one cooked in ordinary vegetable oils .It makes the surface of the foods brighter and the flavour sweeter ..But it's side effects are even worse than animal fats .Besides making people muuuuchh moreee fattteer as MSG does , Trans fats is also capable of clogging obne's arteries , stopping blood and Oxygen supply to brain and heart ,hence causing HEART ATTACK or STROKE !

veeeery high fat but zero (0) calories .That’s the fact , and everyone should have known that !!!^^ But the addictive flavors enhancer kept you on it . Investigations also proved that French fries and potato chips contains high levels of a toxic chemical ,,carcinogenic substance called ACRYLAMIDE , which is known to cause DNA damage ,resulting in cancer and reproductive damage . Recently , food manufacturers have been legally lying to consumers about the trans fat issue since most of the fries foods contains a high level of trans fats .High temperature used in the cooking process of the chips causes the acrylamide to be formed .So , there is still a ‘bunch ‘ of risks even IF the trans fats is removed OR reduced .Trans fats , however , is only reduced . The serving’s size is reduced to a certain extent that it contain only less than 500 mg of trans fat .which in manipulating the legal system , could be qualified as zero trans fats .Acrylamide is also present in drinking water but it’s lamount was strictly regulated to avoid contamination from the manufacture of plastics but not in food . In foods ,acrylamide is spontaneously produced by heating starchy foods such as potato to high temperatures , although the raw ingredients contain none of it . As far , potato chips contains the highest level of acrylamide , which was 500 times than the amount allowed by the EPA in a glass of water ,followed by French fries ,which was served with 100 times the allowed amount of Acrylamide . Large order of food fries contains at least 300 times the allowed amount .

The high level of acrylamide in potato chips and French fries had been confirmed by independent studies in England , Norway , Switzerland ,Germany and the United states . The WHO also had confirmed that the results of these studies are valid .Although the levels of acromylade found in various brands of potato chips and French fries also varies according to other factors such as cooking techniques, it had been proven that the levels of it on potato chips and French fries is more than enough to cause cancer !!!!!



As far , experts are still researching on the extent of the risks it could cause , yet it have been suggested that 30 % of all cancers are caused by unbalanced diet ,in which , perhaps , the presence of MSG and Acrylamide play a bigger role that what we expect them to have.Taking a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables , and decreasing the amount of foods containing acrylamide would be best to do NOW !!! , since it is still too early to specify which brand of fried foods should be strongly avoided . Everyone should know that potato chips and French fries are children’s most favorited fries foods , but I would suggest that  CHILDREN are not recommended to consume French fries , potato chips , or corn chips until research on the brands which should be avoided is on . You could also try to pay more attention to the labeling on foods to indicate the presence and amount of acrylamide .

Most of us have no idea how to read the nutrition labels on the back of food products! Alright, maybe it's just me but this shall be a sort of guide as we'll most probably be posting up various food labels of snacks.

Here's a food label, taken from http://www.smartspot.com. (I edited it)



Let's first start by looking at (1). It says 'Calories 110' and that's the amount of energy you will gain.

(2) shows what is in the food product. For example, it tells you whether there is trans fat, a really nasty artery clogger (I know this thanks to Mr Johari's worksheet) that causes heart diseases etc. Therefore, you want to make sure that it isn't in whatever you're eating!

(3) reveals the daily values. It's shows you approximately how much you consumed because not everyone keeps track of how many calories their food contain. So this acts as a scale of some sort.

According to this website:

40 calories = low

100 calories = moderate

400 and above = high

5% DV (Daily Value) or less = low

20% DV or more = high.

Watch those calories, people! Even though they give us energy and such, too much energy will be stored in the body as fats. Too much fats will lead to obesity, causing loads of health problems. Remember, before taking a packet of your favourite snack, be it chips, chocolate or candy, check the health label and consider carefully!

If you must know, 30 minutes of running can only burn 200 calories. D: That's a LOT of running, mind you.

well,
as the GREAT MR JOHARI had taught us in bio the week before,
we know that the human body already has a sufficient amount of fats in the body to burn.
Which, will also mean that we do not need anymore extra fats in the body.
But then again, despite the fact that WE ALL KNOW THAT WE CAN DO WITHOUT THAT EXTRA LUMP OF FLAB, we still choose to eat these sinful delights.

Bread baked with numbers of crisp smelling herbs, crispy on the outside, warmth on the inside.

Little do you know, the amount of unbroken fat molecules condensed inside.

A gentle burning flame with a potful of swirling rich, creamy fondue just simmering away and bubbling to a dream.

The fork is clutched in your hand,
Do you want it?
You know you do..

Or perhaps double chocolate cheese cake oozing with yet more chocolate dressing.
Doesn't your tummy just feel sooooo good after letting that forkful of dessert slither down your throat- that sense of satisfaction, BLISS.

You know it does..
The goosebumps you get on your arms when the sharp tang of lemon in the crust hits your taste buds, triggering your many senses.

& when its brightly displayed behind clear crystal-like glass,
winking at you when the light reflects.
Don't you just think that its screaming your name?
Don't you just think that its reserving itself solely for your delight?


Temptation,
we all give in to temptation.

Labelling the top few most fattening foods just so that we all can go indulge and join America in the rising obesity rates XD

succulent, sweet-looking little piece of steak you are going to put into your mouth now.
